Manatal
AI-native ATS — affordable, fast to deploy, popular with SMB agencies
1. Ratings Overview
| Platform | Rating | Reviews | Key Themes |
| G2 | 4.3/5 | 160+ | "Best value in the market", easy setup, AI works well |
| Capterra | 4.6/5 | 250+ | User-friendly, affordable, limited reporting |
2. What It Is
Manatal is an AI-native ATS built for recruitment agencies and in-house teams. It's known for being affordable, easy to set up, and genuinely useful AI matching — not just marketing AI. Founded in 2019 in Bangkok, it's grown quickly with SMB agencies globally.
Core Features
- AI candidate scoring — matches and ranks candidates against job requirements
- AI candidate enrichment — pulls data from LinkedIn, social profiles to fill gaps
- Resume parsing — extracts structured data from CVs
- 2,500+ job board integrations — Indeed, LinkedIn, Glassdoor, Monster, and more
- Chrome extension — source candidates directly from LinkedIn
- Customisable pipelines — drag-and-drop Kanban board
- CRM module — client management for agencies (Enterprise tier)
- Career page builder — branded job portal
- AI interviewer — automated interview scheduling and question generation
3. Pricing
Pricing is public and transparent. One of the few ATS vendors that publishes per-user pricing without requiring a sales call.
| Plan | Price | Jobs | Candidates | Key Features | Flags |
| Professional | $15/user/mo | 15 | 10,000 | AI matching, resume parsing, job boards, Chrome extension, basic reporting | Great value |
| Enterprise | $35/user/mo | Unlimited | Unlimited | + CRM, workflow automations, job requisitions, advanced reporting | Agency essential |
| Enterprise Plus | $55/user/mo | Unlimited | Unlimited | + Open API, SSO, user groups, priority support, beta features | API locked here |
| Custom | Quote | Custom | Custom | + Dedicated account manager, custom integrations | Enterprise sales |
All plans billed annually. 14-day free trial available on Professional and Enterprise.
API access is only on Enterprise Plus ($55/user/mo). This is the biggest catch. The Professional plan is great value but you can't integrate it with external tools. Workflow automations also require Enterprise ($35).
4. AI Readiness
What Manatal's AI Does
- AI candidate scoring — ranks candidates against job requirements, trimming screening time significantly
- AI enrichment — pulls LinkedIn, social media, and web data to complete candidate profiles
- AI job description generation — writes JDs from brief inputs
- Resume parsing — extracts structured fields from CVs
- AI interviewer — generates interview questions and schedules
- Semantic + Boolean search — but can't combine them simultaneously (a known limitation)
AI Assessment
| Criteria | Rating | Notes |
| Built-in AI quality | Good | Users say "the AI actually works" for scoring. Fast, accurate for most roles. |
| Resume parsing accuracy | Good | Better than CEIPAL. Handles standard formats well. |
| AI for non-English | Weak | AI scoring works best with English CVs. Non-English markets see degraded accuracy. |
| External AI integration (BYO) | Limited | API exists but locked to $55/user tier. Thin documentation — "expect to reverse-engineer from support tickets." |
| Model transparency | Partial | AI scoring visible but no model choice. You use Manatal's AI or nothing. |
For AgileX: Manatal's built-in AI is better than CEIPAL's, and it has an API — but API access costs $55/user/month and documentation is thin. Not ideal for deep agent integration, but possible at the right tier. Better than closed platforms.
5. Vendor Lock-in Assessment
| Factor | Rating | Detail |
| Data portability | Limited | CSV export available for candidates. No bulk API export on lower tiers. |
| Contract flexibility | Good | Annual billing, but public pricing. 14-day free trial. No long-term lock. |
| API openness | Tier-gated | Open API exists but only on Enterprise Plus ($55/user). Thin docs. |
| Switching cost | Medium | Pipeline data and comms history would need manual migration. Not trivial. |
| Ecosystem | Open-ish | 2,500+ job boards, Zapier, Chrome extension. API for deeper needs. |
| Performance at scale | Degrades | Users report slowdowns past ~20,000 candidate profiles. Not for high-volume. |
Lock-in risk: MEDIUM. Better than CEIPAL — public pricing, API exists, CSV export available. But API access costs 3.6x the base price ($55 vs $15), and performance degrades at scale. You're not trapped, but you pay to be free.
6. User Reviews — Pros & Cons
Pros
- "Best value in the market" — G2 reviewers say this repeatedly
- AI scoring works — actually trims screening time, not just a buzzword
- Fast setup — minutes to onboard, minimal training needed
- Clean UI — intuitive Kanban, modern interface
- Chrome extension — source from LinkedIn directly, saves hours
- 2,500+ job boards — post to 15 boards in one minute
- AI enrichment — auto-fills candidate profiles from web data
- 14-day free trial — no sales call needed to start
- Career page builder — branded portal included at all tiers
Cons
- API locked to $55/user — the Professional plan can't integrate with anything custom
- Workflow automations locked — need Enterprise ($35) for basic automation
- Search limitations — can't combine Boolean and Advanced search simultaneously
- Reporting gaps — insufficient for measuring recruiting ROI or presenting analytics to stakeholders
- AI English-only — scoring and matching degrade significantly for non-English CVs
- Scale limits — performance degrades past ~20K profiles. Not for high-volume agencies.
- API docs thin — "expect to reverse-engineer from support tickets"
- Limited customisation — can't deeply customise workflows or fields on lower tiers
- No MCP server — no agent-native integration protocol
7. AgileX Verdict
Recommended for SMB agencies — with caveats for agent integration
Manatal is the best value ATS on the market. At $15/user/month you get real AI scoring, 2,500 job boards, a clean UI, and a 14-day trial. For a small agency that wants to go digital fast, it's hard to beat.
For AgileX agent integration:
- Pro: API exists (unlike CEIPAL). Transparent pricing. Good built-in AI.
- Con: API locked to $55/user tier. Thin docs. No MCP. Scale limits at 20K profiles.
- Verdict: Viable for smaller agencies on Enterprise Plus. Not ideal for high-volume or deep agent workflows. AgileX would build an API bridge at the $55 tier, not a native MCP integration.
Manatal vs Huly for AgileX
| Factor | Manatal | Huly + MCP |
| Price | $15–55/user/mo | Free (self-hosted) or hosted |
| AI | Built-in (good but closed) | BYO — Gemini, Claude, Llama, any model |
| API | REST API ($55 tier only) | MCP — any agent can call natively |
| Agent readiness | Moderate (API bridge) | Excellent (MCP native) |
| Setup speed | Minutes (SaaS) | 30 min (self-hosted Docker) |
| Scale | Degrades past 20K | CockroachDB — scales horizontally |
| Lock-in | Medium (API costs extra) | Zero (open source) |
